Peoplelink WebCenter Wins $2.8 Million Account

Client

A Fortune 500 tier 1 supplier to General Motors based in Charlotte, N.C. with an international presence.

Situation

The client was unable to access business critical information in a timely manner. Its previous vendor was incapable of providing daily and weekly information such as head-count, temporary labor costs, billing, access to invoices and department reporting.

All reports had to be manually created by the previous vendor, which caused unsatisfactory delays in receiving reports.

Competition/Threats

After a long information drought, it was critical for the client to choose the right staffing vendor. The client’s decision-making process was conducted through online bidding – similar to an auction – through freemarkets.com. The client invited a narrow field of staffing agencies to participate in the auction.

Peoplelink, an Indiana-based staffing company that provides staffing solutions for commercial and professional services, was the low bidder in the “auction,” but needed to be able to show a substantial difference between themselves, the incumbent vendor and the other bidders.

The staffing firm wanted the opportunity to show the client how they could save time and money through their value-added services such as WebCenter.

The client selected the five lowest bidders from the auction to prepare onsite presentations. Peoplelink brought their presentation before 12 decision makers.

The presentation focused on its staffing solution with emphasis on WebCenter in a hands-on demonstration. The client spent six weeks reviewing and evaluating the five presentations before making a decision.

Strategy

Peoplelink suggested that the client utilize its staffing solution and WebCenter, because it would provide them with the needed daily and weekly numbers with the click of a mouse.

Result

Unlike the competition, WebCenter offered the client access to real-time information. In July 2003, Peoplelink Staffing won the $2.8 million account over a number of competitors. The client currently uses WebCenter, which provides access to up-to-date information at any time from anywhere.
