My Dad hired a psychotic sales gal when he started his temp business in 1974. She was an ex-nun that sang operas, chewed gum like a 12-year-old and squeaked a little like Miss Hannigan from Annie. It may have been the best business decision he made that whole year. That woman was fearless and would walk into any account and make her pitch. Getting thrown out meant nothing for her, and she had despite all her irritating ideosyncrasies an incredibly well-organized planner. When I get cold feet I remember her. I also make use of little tools that help me get over the edge and decide to make those one or two extra calls. One of those tools is our TempWorks iPad app, and in this month's newsletter I share how it helped me score a big deal. The newsletter also highlights upcoming free training from TempWorks, some product updates and personnel highlights. Let us know what you think!
Who makes the best staffing leader, the newly minted Harvard MBA or the battle-hardened gal that made her way up working a full cycle desk? We all know the answer. Staffing is a tough business. A war. Stick around long enough and you'll see that MBA run away faster than an OWS protester offered a job. Wars make generals for new wars, and we're painfully aware at Tempworks that helping our clients grow means helping them train future leaders. Accordingly, this month's newsletter newsletter announces new dates for our ever-popular FREE online training. You'll also find posts on how to educate your customers about cutting costs with technology like the new WebCenter6. That and more!
I don't know about you, but 2007 was a rough year for me. My stock portfolio tanked. I lost an airline client that had been with me for decades. And the staffing industry fell into an abyss not seen since 1974. Fortunately it was also the year that I built intensely powerful marketing features into our products, features that we used to totally turn the tables on competitors and gain a huge percentage of marketshare. In this month's newsletter, I'm sharing part of our secret, something known within the internet marketing community as web design. As you'll see, we've been preparing killer websites for several of our clients, sites that don't just look pretty but turn those clients into agile, paperless companies that clients and candidates find easy to do business with. The newsletter also includes tidbits on one of our new software support staff and new details on our recently released webcenter line of products. This is an exciting time for us and for our clients and am proud to share this moment with you.
I want to share with our September newletter which features a major product announcement as well as the following items: • Our president, David Dourgarian, shares news about the promotion of Mari Kautzman and underscores that "TempWorks is committed to the financial success of all our clients ... and our primary focus will always be to keep the best staffing companies on the latest technology at a reasonable cost." • If you're a staffing professional looking to see how your customers and candidates can better utilize your services through the web, then I invite you to take extra time to check out the video trailer for our WebCenter 6 unveiling that will take place at Staffing World in New Orleans next month. We are so excited we can barely wait! I hope you can join us for the launch party and demo! • Ever wonder what it looks like to develop staffing software? Check out the item about Erik Anderson, a developer I've worked closely with who recently completed a major milestone in our new multi-lingual online applicant portal. • Expert training on keyskill selling, search and retrieval, sales tools, lead generation and task management. Our VP of Training Dalyce Wood and her teams have a full schedule of free online training for you.

Beyond the obvious question of how temporaries at or near minimum wage will be able to afford driving to their assignments, four dollar gas and the inflationary forces behind it will wreak havoc on the staffing industry in the year to come. Learn about this and more in our June newsletter.
TempWorks would like to introduce Jose Maldonado, an enthusiastic member of our Sales team since August of 2010. As a Sales Account Representative Jose is responsible for bringing in accounts and maintaining customer relationships. Jose is also one of our road warriors, who frequently travels around the United States to visit current clients and prospects. Because he is fluent in Spanish, Jose also functions as our bilingual trainer. Learn about what's going on at TempWorks in our May newsletter!
Personally I love it when I lose to a competitor because how else better to know that we have a weakness or that there is an underserved community out there? Calling competitors Frenemies isn’t a cop out. It isn’t a sign of limpdickedness (sure to be the word of the year sometime soon). Let me compromise on the vulgarity by pointing out a more refined way of saying that…en français “la-peur-de-qu’en dira-t-on”. Read about Frenemies and more in our April newsletter!
