How I Made My First Million and Why Staffing Talk Is Doing Promo Videos for Clients

I believe that every business can benefit by marketing and selling better and that newer forms of advertising like a web video can give you that transformational edge that separates you from the pack and helps you win deals. In this post I tell the story of how transformational advertising played a big part in helping me make that first hard-to-come-by million in the 1980s. I mention all this in no small part because Staffing Talk has started a web production division for staffing companies.

Kinzy does a great write up on the service here.

Also in this month’s newsletter we feature an incredible employee, Ashlee Brace, who has been bringing on funding and franchised clients for us faster than a Tom Cruise space pod. She’s one of the first winners of our employee-of-the-month award, a program that we should have started years ago.

The indefatigable Dalyce Brell gives you the low down on pricing your services and how to use Tempworks enterprise to manage the process.

As always, thanks for taking the time to let me share with you and have a great start to the summer.

Gregg

Winning in Staffing Under Obamacare and other news from TempWorks

It’s my pleasure this month to announce as an exclusive offering to Tempworks clients an executive overview on the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare or ACA) by our CEO, David Dourgarian. The paper discusses the ramifications of the law and suggests specific business processes and software practices to best deal with it. If you are interested in it, please request it through our VP of Account Management, Susan Wurst.

Also, this month we unveil our new job board product. As you know, candidates approach job postings with no small amount of apprehension. Anxieties increase when the job search is slow or the postings aren’t displayed attractively. Poorly executed, the candidate abandons the process and moves on. I’m happy to share that Pete Klein, our lead designer, brought the best of both speed and attractiveness to the product, and the result should be better job boarding for our clients.

I hope you also enjoy this month’s articles on documentation and on Hugh Gilpatric, a star new Account Manager. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Hugh over the last six months. We both share a big interest in endurance sports like running (he does marathons, I do quarter-miles on the treadmill). Thank you and have a great Easter holiday.

Gregg Dourgarian

Buy From Mike Binder

Casey Kraus, our VP of Sales, put out the internal email below on the great work Mike Binder has been doing for us.  Never one to leave a kind word left unchecked, I’m compelled to kibitz. Staffing software sales is a hard thing, but after-sale onsite software training can be even harder, and it’s something Mike has excelled in.  Invariably you are meeting up with the client at their most …

Press 1 for Dead Air

Apologies to our customers for some voice mail issues we’re fighting right now.  We converted to a new phone system flawlessly last month but backend issues at our provider have been causing voicemail issues this week and are still lingering.  If you don’t get a call back from a voice mail, it could be that your message has been unretrievable.  Please don’t hesitate to recontact us.     Looks like …

TempWorks Training Goes to the Dogs (video)

Like me you may have missed Dalyce Brell, VP of Corporate Training at Tempworks, during the last two weeks.   I caught up with her today, her first day back from vacation, and found out what she had been up to. The American Kennel Club held its national agility championship in Tulsa, OK,  and Dalyce placed very well among the 409 contestants.  I watched this video of Dalyce and realized that …

The Revival of the Staffing Industry Executive Forum

I had the chance to have a beer with Staffing Industry Analyst’s Hugo Traeger a few weeks back.  It was sub-zero here in Minneapolis, but it was Hugo, the Californian, who warmed up the conversation with the comeback story of the Executive Forum, his firm’s yearly conference of industry captains. It was only a couple years back that I was mistakenly convinced that in-person shows were going the way of …

Not Every Dad Gets to Have an Olympic Hopeful for a Daughter

But given what’s going on with Oscar, I’ll settle for the Hayward Cross Country Marathon.  Best of luck Maria and Bracy.
